The new cases were identified from the 829 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. A total of 79 people also recovered from the virus. The number of active cases on the island is now 746. The 42 positive cases comprised 24 women and 18 men. Eight of them had already been at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility undergoing assessment to determine whether their positive PCR test result showed that they were in fact newly positive, or whether they had COVID in the past and were no longer infectious. The other 34 cases were Barbadians. Barbados has recorded 2,949 confirmed cases โ 1,369 females and 1,580 males โ and 2,171 persons have recovered. There have been 32 deaths from the viral illness. The public health laboratory has so far completed 123,470 tests. There were 3,501 persons vaccinated on Wednesday, as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19.
