Even though the Bajefit program continues to attract many participants across the length and breadth of Barbados, coordinator Adrian Donovan said the inclement weather had resulted in a few sessions being rained out.
The longstanding administrator said that despite the bad weather conditions affecting Barbados, organisers will continue to ensure that members of the public can enjoy these sessions where possible
Donovan spoke after Tuesday’s session conducted by National Sports Council instructor Cosmo Edwards at King George V Memorial Park.
“While the Bajefit program continues to gather momentum across the length and breadth of the island, the rain on occasion has caused a few setbacks. In fact, with the passing of a tropical depression that brought about inclement weather we were always looking to the skies and hoping for the best.
“However, those that went on especially at the venues like King George The Fifth Mnmorial Park, Checker Hall, Content, Byde Mill, National Stadium, Crab Hill, Chapel, Ellerton, Gall Hill, Dash Valley, Rices, Passage Road, Isolation, Lammings, Orange Hill and St. Elizabeth were not affected in any major way,” Donovan said.
He added: “This popular program in its third edition just added the St. Mark’s community which has proven to be a successful undertaking. Members of that St. Phillip area continue to raise their numbers.
“The sessions at King George The Fifth Memorial Park which saw over 42 participants this past week had family members from all ages go through their routines despite cloudy conditions.”
At the request of the participants, Donovan noted that the sessions at Chapel, Greens and Crab Hill will now be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays instead of the original Tuesdays and Fridays.
“It is very interesting to note that another popular venue is in Checker Hall, St. Lucy where the instructors Dario Hinds and Andwele Broomes are bringing about a very entertaining session.
“The newest venue, Byde Mill in St. George which sees instructors Tracy Leacock, Richard Forde and Gregory Goodridge, is also being spoken highly of. They have been able to interact very well with the participants.
“Likewise at Passage Road where instructors Donovan Lovell, Carlton Sealy continue to add something new in their routines. At Rices, Samuel Garnes and Jafari Toppin have introduced some innovative ideas to their sessions which are being enjoyed by all. The nine-week program is expected to get back on track when the bad weather leaves us,” Donovan explained.
He also pointed out that the participants islandwide are now looking forward to VOB’s (Voice of Barbados) Summer Burn which has partnered with the Bajefit program and will be held over the next coming Sundays.
