The facility conducted 1,387 tests on Wednesday, September 8. The new positives comprise 60 people who are 18 years old and over, 17 under the age of 18, and one person whose age is unknown. There are 636 persons in isolation. Barbados has recorded 5,651 confirmed cases of the virus (2,801 females and 2,850 males) since March 2020. The death toll from COVID-19 is 51. The public health laboratory has, to date, carried out 278,271 tests. Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, 117,968 first doses of the vaccines have been administered, while 95,932 people (35.4 per cent of the population) have been given second doses and are now fully vaccinated.
