The facility conducted 2,355 tests. Of this number, 43 were under age 18, and 152 persons were 18 years and older. There are currently 589 persons in isolation facilities, and 3,221 in home isolation. Five deaths were recorded on Saturday, October 16 – three women, aged 60, 66 and 74, and two men, 69 and 70 years old. They were all unvaccinated. Their deaths bring the number of lives lost to the viral illness to 119. Barbados has recorded 12,968 cases of COVID-19 (6, 252 males and 6, 716 females) since the start of the pandemic. The public health laboratory has carried out 357,580 tests. To date, 144,981 people – 63.5 per cent of the eligible population – have received at least one dose of the vaccine under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. A total of 116,514 persons (43 per cent of the total population or 51 per cent of the eligible population) have received their second doses and are fully vaccinated.
