Barbados records 445 new cases

The number of new COVID-19 cases reported for Monday, October 25, is 445 – 229 males and 216 females.   The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 2,223 tests. 

The new positives consist of 87 persons who are under the age of 18, and 358 who are 18 years and older.

There are 768 people in isolation facilities, and 4,693 in home isolation.

Four deaths were recorded – three Barbadian females aged 40, 58 and 81 and a 53-year-old Vincentian male. They were all unvaccinated.  Their deaths bring the number of persons who have died from COVID-19, as at October 25, to 143.

Barbados has recorded 16,033 confirmed cases (7,776 males and 8,257 females) of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in March last year.

The public health laboratory carried out a total of 378,335 tests since February 2020.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 147,436 (64.6 per cent of the eligible population).  A total of 122,666 persons (45.3 per cent of the total population or 53.7 per cent of the eligible population) have received their second doses and are fully vaccinated.  The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older. (MHW/BGIS)
