Well-known attorney-at-law and social activist Douglas Trotman has died.
He passed away this morning after a brief illness.
Scores of friends and colleagues have taken to social media to express their condolences.
Prominent Attorney-at-law Gregory Nicholls described Trotman as a champion.
He said: “Douglas Trotman, Slanty you have left us with much to ponder and that was your unique outstanding contribution. You heard a different beat in the rhythm and you were driven to succeed and share in that success.”
President of the Democratic Labour Party Verla De Peiza said: “The people have lost a true champion!” in her tribute.
Activist Kammie Holder said he was saddened by the loss of his dear friend.
“He stood up for the common man, equality, fairness and justice,” Holder said.
