Barbados records 310 new COVID cases

Barbados recorded 310 new COVID-19 cases, 127 males and 183 females, from the 1,118 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Thursday, May 19.
The cases comprise 67 persons under the age of 18, and 243 who were 18 years and older.
There were 98 people in isolation facilities, while 4,329 were in home isolation.
A 64-year-old fully vaccinated man succumbed to the virus on Thursday.
As at May 19, there were 436 COVID-19 related deaths.
The public health laboratory has conducted 677,714 tests since February 2020, and recorded 78,448 COVID-19 cases (35,843 males and 42,605 females).
Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 162,196 (71 per cent of the eligible population).  The total number of fully vaccinated persons is 152,541 (56.3 per cent of the total population or 66.8 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
