Mechanical engineer Terrance Dacosta Gibbs said he was intoxicated on the day he verbally abused a female police officer.

For the offence the 50-year-old from Mayers Land, Lower Richmond, St Michael resident must pay $750 to the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.

The sum, which was imposed by Magistrate Kim Butcher, must be paid in three months or the convicted man will spend the alternative of three months at Dodds prison.

He pleaded guilty to telling the police officer as she executed her duties on June 8, “F**k off police. I don’t care nothing bout wunna!”

Officers found Gibbs standing in the road cursing and shouting when they responded to a report in his neighbourhood.

He was spoken to about his behaviour on numerous occasions and asked to desist from such but instead he turned to the officer and said “carry wunna c**t!”

Gibbs then ran off into a house and he was pursued. When caught he was asked for his name and address and replied, “Wuh my name and address got to do wid wunna?” along with the abusive language towards the police officer.

He was told of the offence and arrested.

Before the magistrate sentenced Gibbs, he told the court: “I was under the influence of alcohol. I really apologise. I wasn’t myself at the time.”

He also revealed, “My wife will be here soon and she will take me . . . for counselling.”
