Stewart who resides in the United States of America is life-curious, loves to travel, and is an avid meditation practitioner. She received her Meditation Teacher Training Certification in Mindfulness and Compassion Meditation from The Path and said that not only does Kintsugi fix broken vessels, but it also fixes internal scars. “At Modern Mediation we talk to the healing process of our own inner wounds, how that looks, how that feels, how that looks like. So many times, we have scars that we don’t tend to but when we look at it through our Kintsugi lens we realize that the scars that we have both physically and mentally can be healed and we can come out more resilient, stronger, wiser and more beautiful with gold,” she said. The businesswoman who holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration said that learning the art of Kintsugi over several months helped her in her own healing journey. “I was at a point of my life where I started taking meditation seriously. Though I practised on and off for years I decided that the healing powers of meditation were not just psychological, it was real. I started practising it. With meditation comes the ability to slow down a moment and pause as it creates the gap between the question and the answer – this is what mindful meditation does. The art of Kintsugi and Meditation go hand in hand as they both talk about the simplicity, resilience, and ease of the path once you acknowledge there is a path and go down it. I think many people need this in their lives as we are not aware that we cannot control everything, we still feel as though we are in control,” she said. Stewart who is in Barbados with her family said that her business has been able to successfully operate in countries all over the world. Thus, she is seeking to have a series of workshops in Barbados in order to teach people the art of modern meditation. “At Modern Meditation, we focus on the body, the mind, and the soul and I believe the soul needs to be around things of beauty. The place we are having the classes is at The Captain’s Annex- 36 Blowers. St. James by Portvale Sugar Factory. The facilities recently held an event in which the Prime Minister of Barbados, The Honourable Mia Amor Mottley attended. The location is gorgeous, and it is a perfect location to meditate as well as practise Kintsugi, so we are excited to share our time here with Barbadians and teach them a bit about what Modern Meditation is all about,” she said.
