COVID-19 update for September 17

Barbados recorded 33 new COVID-19 cases, 11 males and 22 females, from the 276 tests conducted at laboratories across the island on Saturday, September 17.

Of the positive cases, three persons were under the age of 18, and 30 were 18 years and older.

There were 34 people in isolation facilities, while 317 were in home isolation. No deaths were recorded yesterday, so the number of COVID-19-related deaths remains at 559.

The health laboratories have conducted 761,912 tests since February 2020 and recorded 102,193 COVID-19 cases (46,202 males and 55,991 females). Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 163,571 (71.6 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of persons who are fully vaccinated is 154,568 (67,779 males and 86,789 females), which represents 57 per cent of the total population or 67.7 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
