Payne deals with death with care and class

Since October 1st, 2020, Tahirah Payne has been operating her company Bereavement Care Funerals which is located in Durant’s Village, St James.

The businesswoman whose company offers pre-planning, burials, cremations, repatriations, floral arrangements and bereavement advice, said the past two years have been filled with overwhelming love and support despite the pandemic.

“During the COVID-19 period our company was able to be a pillar of strength during bereavement and we were able to create everlasting memories with families both in Barbados and abroad. As a new business like every new venture, we encountered challenges, but as a family at Bereavement Care Funerals we overcame them. During the two years in operation the testimonials and recommendations from our clients supported the fact that our company is dedicated, consistent, compassionate and communicates with our clients well so our work does not go unnoticed,” she said.

The company which is celebrating its second year of operation has added Palliative Care services and Forever Memories – (a memorial gathering which includes catering services and more at the venue) to their list of services offered.

“Our aim is to support families during their time of bereavement while celebrating in unique ways as this has proven to be another avenue for dealing with the loss of a loved one,” she said.

Payne said that Bereavement Care Funerals’ mission is to transform traditional funeral services into true celebrations of life allowing each family to commemorate their loved one in a notable and personalised way.

“We ensure that every family that comes into our care is treated with the utmost respect and dignity which goes far beyond the funeral arrangements. As a result, the gratitude expressed by the families during the inclusion established in friendships is the highlight for me,” she said.

Payne said she is humbled and honoured to be included in the death care industry in the way she has been since starting her business.

“The death care industry continued to change during the last two years and a lot of us had to make changes in the way families said their final goodbyes to their loved ones during the pandemic. As we are now in a post-pandemic world it shows that new and creative ways are imperative for the future to support the bereaved. This showed me that the industry will thrive once the inclusion and creativity continue,” she said.
