More than 15 young boys benefited from a back to school initiative conceptualised by community activist and Justice of the Peace Janal Browne.
On Saturday Browne organised for a number of youngsters to get free haircuts at a barbershop in Sayes Court, Christ Church.
“This initiative is part of my Operation Ceasefire programme. Understanding that a number of parents are experiencing financial difficulties at this time, I decided to do something meaningful to help them with the return of their children to school on Monday. While something like a haircut may seem small, it is these little things that matter and go a long way in helping those in need. So I know that it would be greatly appreciated,” he said.
“This also gives me the opportunity to help empower small businesses in the community. Help bring awareness to their offerings and services and bring that much needed financial support to help these small enterprises bounce back from the negative fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic. So, it was a holistic approach, a way to help those in need and a way to help uplift businesses operated by young people in the community.”
