Suspected drowning at Sugar Bay Beach

Police are investigating a case of suspected drowning at Sugar Bay Beach in Hastings, Christ Church.
Police say they went to the beach around 4:40 pm on Saturday, after a caller informed them that there was a man experiencing difficulties in the water.

According to police, their investigations informed that a man in his 70s was pulled from the water. He was given CPR and efforts were made to revive him. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim is an English visitor to the island who was staying at the Sugar Bay Hotel at Hastings.

His identity is being withheld pending notification of his family and relatives.
