Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 219 Many hands make light work and such was the case at Browne’s Beach when Republic Bank volunteers took part in the Future Centre Trust’s “Clean Up Barbados” initiative last weekend. Thirty-four Republic Bank volunteers, including family members of employees, came out to support the effort. From 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. the team cleaned the beachfront on Bay Street, covering the area from the popular Boatyard to Cavans Lane. “We collected over 50 large garbage bags of rubbish and eight boxes of glass bottles. We even collected a washing machine shell, a discarded shopping cart, bed spring, and other bulk junk items,” explained Manager, Marketing & Corporate Communications, Mischa Knight. “We extend sincere thanks to the Future Centre Trust for creating this project. As a Bank that is committed to being a responsible corporate citizen and making significant contributions in the environmental space, these initiatives can be quite instructive to us. Already, the Bank is a leader in financing renewable energy, tackling environmental and climate issues from the stand-point of making clean energy more accessible to more people. “These clean-ups help us tackle environmental issues from an even simpler and more immediate stand-point – tackling the issue of waste disposal. It certainly encourages our volunteer teams to seek out or even create ways that the Bank can further contribute to the preservation of our environment,” she said.
