A total of 3,295 students will write this year’s Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination (BSSEE) on Tuesday, June 27.

This figure comprises 1,665 males and 1,630 females, who are registered to write the exam at 21 secondary schools across the island.

According to the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training (METVT), 20 students have requested permission to sit the BSSEE at an early age (10 years-old).

One hundred and twenty-nine non-nationals have requested to write the BSSEE, also known as the Common Entrance or 11-plus Exam. Of these students, 126 have satisfied immigration requirements and will be allowed to write the examination. The METVT has also received 180 special requests, ranging from scribes to large print.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has granted exemptions from writing the examination to 56 students while 147 others have deferred.
