Attendees in the family affair festivities enjoyed complimentary sno-cones, confectioneries from Creamery Ice Cream, samples of Dasani flavored water among the treats. Even the car park skaters joined in the fun which included a free mini jump with traditional characters such as Mother Sally and stilt men. Edwin Yearwood performed from the back of the truck. Edwin Yearwood had the soca lovers jamming behind the truck. Prior to the kickoff, Marketing Officer Charlene Mullin told Barbados TODAY, “Kooyman wanted to do it big this year for Crop Over. We are accustomed to supporting carnivals in all our other islands where our stores are located. This is the first year that we are making a big investment and we wanted to use the jump through to share that with everyone. We are going to be the shared title sponsor of the Foreday Morning Jam.” Mikey performing from on top the truck. Revellers were decked out in their green shirts. Involving those in the immediate environs of the mega store was especially important to the business. Mullin said, “We wanted to invest in the community to start that off and that is how we came up with our jump through.” She explained, the company was able to attract revelers by advertising the event on social media and using billboards and radio ads. On registration participants received a free green t-shirt, mug, and sunglasses. Social media influencer Christian Gibbs attended the event. “We are just really excited to be a part of Crop Over this year and Barbadians can look out for us all throughout the festival. We have some great giveaways, we are going to try to find you guys wherever you are, so look out for Kooyman!” Mullin added. Trailing the truck, led by an energetic flag woman, the lively group maneuvered through the car park before going through the company’s private drive-through. By the time they exited the store they were dripping in sweat as they enjoyed Yearwood’s top tunes including Pump Me Up, Chrissening, Sak Passe, Jam Down and Who Aint Hurt Badly Wounded. The energy levels remained high as they were further entertained by reigning Soca Monarch Mikey who used the music truck as his stage. His session included old favorites like Company, Roll It and We Loose, Ready and Party Mash Up. He even taught the happy crowd the accompanying dance to Drift, his 2023 collaboration with Fadda Fox. At his request the enthusiastic revelers created a circle around him as they loudly sang along to All Ovah to conclude his set. At the conclusion of the event Mullin said, “I am very happy with the turnout. We had quite a number of people registered, and this would have included staff and our customers.
