Led by a stellar all-round performance from Jaheim Springer, Hillaby Turners Hall Primary secured a 13-run victory over Blackman and Gollop Primary to win this year’s National Sports Council Six for Six Softball Cricket tournament.

Featuring the finest young talents from primary schools across the island, the tournament commenced on October 16 and concluded on Monday at the Blenheim playing field.

In the final, Hillaby Turners Hall took the crease first and posted a respectable 61-2 from their allocated six overs.

Springer displayed exceptional batting prowess, contributing an impressive 22 runs with his stroke-filled innings, while Natarie Lavine offered crucial support with 21 runs.

In their turn at the crease, Blackman and Gollop encountered significant difficulties before eventually being bowled out for 49 runs.

Springer, with the ball this time, played a pivotal role as the primary destroyer for his team, claiming three wickets while conceding only nine runs in his two overs.

After leading his team off the field, Springer expressed his satisfaction in contributing to their victory.

“It’s a great feeling. I think we played well, and I’m happy that I helped the school win today,” he told Barbados TODAY.

On their journey to the final, Blackman and Gollop triumphed over Wesley Hall in the semis, while Hillaby Turner’s Hall outperformed Reynold Weeks in their semifinal clash.
