The Rotary Club of Barbados has launched its annual festive extravaganza, Carols by Candlelight, marking its 28th year in celebrating the joy of Christmas. This beloved tradition, set to illuminate the Barbadian holiday season, also serves as the primary fundraising event for the club’s yearly service project.

With a theme of Where the Joy of Christmas Comes to Light, Rotary said it hopes the December 10 event will once again unite the community under the enchanting sounds of carols and the gentle flicker of candlelight. Highlighting the event’s philanthropic purpose, Rotary President-Elect Arlene Ross said that the funds gathered will drive the club’s upcoming project, focusing on uplifting and empowering women and children. The primary focus will be on young women, particularly those aged 10 to 24, who, due to various circumstances, have become mothers and face limited access to education and vocational training.

Attendees of Carols by Candlelight not only partake in an evening of entertainment but also become integral contributors to a community striving to create a brighter future for those in need, the Rotarian leader stressed.

This year’s edition boasts an impressive lineup of performers supported by the Festival Band, all rallying in support of the cause – with a special appearance by Santa Claus to add an extra touch of magic to the festivities. Patrons are encouraged to bring unwrapped gifts for less fortunate children, extending the spirit of giving beyond the event itself.

Taking place on the grounds of the Prime Minister’s official residence, Ilaro Court, on Saturday, December 10, the event’s doors open at 3 p.m., with the show starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at various outlets across the island, online and from any Rotary Club of Barbados member. The outlets include A & B Music Supplies, Carlton and Emerald City supermarkets, The Park Cafe, Lewis Drug Mart, Imart stores and online from Ticketlinkz.

In a release on the event, the Rotary Club of Barbados extended deep appreciation to its corporate sponsors, whose support has been pivotal in ensuring the show’s success.

The Rotary Club, the oldest service club globally, operates with a network of 1.4 million people across 200 countries, to drive change and community impact. Among its various initiatives is the three-decade effort to eradicate polio. (PR/BT)
