Wife killer awaits sentence

A man who methodically planned and carried out the brutal slaying of his estranged wife almost 12 years ago will soon know his fate.

Sean Watson, 46, of Bannantyne Gardens, Christ Church, is scheduled to be sentenced next week Friday in the No. 2 Supreme Court. He had previously pleaded guilty to non-capital murder in the stabbing death of 37-year-old Nicole Harrison-Watson on April 28, 2012.

On Wednesday, Justice Randall Worrell informed the murderer that his sentencing would be held on February 9.

“Thank you, Sir,” Watson replied before leaving the dock and returning to the custody of waiting prison officers.

Watson was represented by defence attorney Bryan Weekes during the trial in which Director of Public Prosecutions Donna Babb-Agard S.C appeared for the State.

The court previously heard that Watson dictated a statement to police in which he admitted to stalking his estranged wife for several months, purchasing the tools for the murder weeks ahead of the crime, and breaking into her house and lying in wait until she returned home.

He told police that he waited until Harrison-Watson fell asleep and then tied her right leg and left hand before going through conversations on her phone. While Watson was attempting to tie her right hand, she awoke, and he choked her. After she fell unconscious, he tied her remaining limbs, wrapped plastic cling wrap around her mouth and nose and then stabbed her twice in the neck with a kitchen knife.
