The future stars of local basketball are being forged through intense competition and camaraderie. The U15 and U17 National Sports Council (NSC) School’s Basketball competitions have not only showcased emerging talents but have also highlighted the importance of youth sports as a platform for character building and skill development.

In the U15 semi-finals, the prowess of Harrison College A and Queen’s College B was on full display. Harrison College A triumphed over the St Michael School convincingly, with a scoreline of 57-41, while Queen’s College B dominated Lodge with an impressive 56-23 victory.

These matches not only underscore the strength of these programmes, but also shine a light on the continuous improvements made by other schools through regular participation in such tournaments.

The intensity was mirrored in the U17 competition which heated up on Thursday. Harrison College B secured a solid win against Providence, ending the game at 45-33. The St Michael School outplayed Deighton Griffith to win by 18 points, 54-36, showing that they are a force to be reckoned with.

Meanwhile, Queen’s College A once again displayed their dominance by almost doubling the tally against Alexandra Secondary School, finishing at 64-33. In another match, Lester Vaughan managed a win against Graydon Sealy Secondary School with a score of 27-14, highlighting their defensive strength during the matchup.

The consistent performance of top teams like Harrison College, Queen’s College, and the St Michael School serves as an inspiration and a benchmark for other schools.
