This advice comes from Julia Beckles, former principal and veteran educator, who commended the students for their determination throughout their secondary school years. These were turbulent times due to the changes in the learning environment triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. Speaking on the theme, Your destiny awaits: Seize It, Beckles told the graduates that they have ‘made it’ and should be proud and ready to face upcoming challenges beyond the walls of their alma mater. “The theme bids us to get up, respond, get active, plan, think critically. There must be action,” she said. “Class of 2024, you are awesome. You have all of the inputs to make something of your life. You could have chosen to give up during those miserable years, you could have chosen not to cooperate with your teachers, you could have chosen not to cooperate with your parents. Instead, you made the choice to take the other path, and do something productive with your life.” Beckles emphasised that regardless of their beliefs about destiny, they ought not be bystanders in life. She reminded the students of the immense benefits they have gained from their teachers and parents, urging them to use these skills to flourish in their new pursuits. Former principal of the school and veteran educator, Julia Beckles “Your destiny awaits you in the opportunities that will come your way. You must seize them, own them, and make the most of them because once missed they may not return. Destiny is that which can be created, from that which is given,” Beckles stated. You are a global citizen with Bajan roots, this mission is possible, arise, your destiny awaits…seize it.” (SB) Shamar Blunt You may also like ICE Boxing Day breakfast party takes vibes to higher level 28/12/2024 Scotiabank gives back 28/12/2024 Spartan calls for aid to return to former glory 28/12/2024
