A Jamaican man’s quiet demeanour and recent arrival in the Deacons, St Michael community have left neighbours with more questions than answers as detectives work to piece together the events that led to his sudden death.
The decomposing body of the 32-year-old man was discovered in a shared flat in Deacons, St Michael, on Wednesday morning.
The deceased, identified as Shahia Burrowes from the south-central Jamaican parish of Clarendon, was found by neighbours in his bedroom at the property where he lived with two other individuals.
Residents in the area reported that Burrowes had only moved to the neighbourhood about two months ago. One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told Barbados TODAY: “He used to come to the shop to buy a couple drinks and leave; he didn’t say much.”
The resident noted that the young man had largely kept to himself, socialising with only one person in the area.
When contacted by Barbados TODAY, police said that they are still in the process of investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. (LG)
