The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has issued a severe thunderstom watch and a flash flood warning for northern and central districts of Barbados.
The BMS says severe thunderstorm activity is expected across those areas.
According to the BMS, lighting activity at or near your location could result in power outages if lightning strikes power utility infrastructure.
Residents are reminded that lightning strikes can be life-threatening.
The public is encouraged to monitor the DEM and GIS websites and their respective social media pages along with the local media networks for further information.
Meanwhile, the BMS has also warned that heavy to intense showers across northern and central districts are possible on Sunday.
Impacts include:
- Water settlements on roads and fields, at the foot of hills and coastal roads.
- Objects or debris from higher elevations becoming embedded within fast-moving water flows.
- Delays on traffic routes, with some roads becoming impassable in and out of minor towns.
