Police in the Northern Division are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the suspected drowning of Mitchell Andre Bynoe, 41, of West Terrace Gardens, St James.

Bynoe’s body was discovered unresponsive, about 11:30 p.m. on Friday, at Fitts Village Beach, Fitts Village, St James, police said in a news release on Saturday.

Police say they received a report that a man was seen going into the water just after 12:30 p.m. on Friday, swimming out to sea and never returning to shore. About 11:30 p.m later that night, the body washed ashore at the same beach. A medical doctor pronounced death while the deceased was identified by a family member.

Anyone who can provide any information that can assist with these investigations is asked to call the Holetown Police Station at 419-1700, Police Emergency 211, Crime Stoppers at 1800-TIPS (8477) or the nearest Police Station. (PR)
