The University of the West Indies at Cave Hill is set to transform its graduation tent into a vibrant Christmas celebration, offering a night of musical performances and charitable giving this Saturday.

The Christmas at Cave Hill event promises an evening rich with cultural significance, featuring performances by Barbadian cultural ambassador Dr The Most Honourable Anthony Gabby Carter and the UWI Blackbirds Big Band, under the creative direction of lecturer Dr Stefan Walcott.

Organisers have crafted a multifaceted programme that extends beyond traditional concert experiences. Doors will open at 5.30 pm, revealing a festive Christmas village designed to enchant families, complete with a celebrity Santa Claus and wonderland-themed photo booths.

The concert will showcase a diverse lineup including the Cavite Chorale, G-Syndicate, and Dancin’ Africa, offering a reimagined approach to holiday music that blends Barbadian and international seasonal hits within a dynamic big band format.

In a gesture embodying the season’s spirit of generosity, attendees are invited to bring wrapped gifts for children ages three to 12, which will be distributed to two children’s homes before Christmas.

The event will also feature sales of Today in Bajan History – The Almanac, edited by historians Dr Henderson Carter and Professor Alan Cobley, providing attendees an opportunity to purchase a unique gift celebrating Barbadian heritage.

Tickets are available, with organisers promising an evening of musical wonder and community connection.
