Authorities have yet to confirm the identity of the deceased or the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Inspector Brathwaite urged Barbadians to assist detectives, stressing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining public safety. “If you see something, say something—it can make a difference,” he urged. “Any information provided will be kept in the strictest confidence.” While social media reports initially suggested a second victim of the gunfire, police have confirmed that two other individuals have been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. “We cannot confirm the nature of their injuries at this time, but they are receiving medical attention,” the police spokesman said. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether there are any suspects or arrests concerning the incident. As the inquiry continues, the police are urging area residents and businesses to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. “Your cooperation is greatly appreciated,” Inspector Brathwaite said. “Let’s keep our country safe.” A man who was sitting at a bar when the gunshots rang out said he was terrified when the gunman opened fire. “A group of fellows was drinking at the bar when the gunshots rung out. We run and went inside and lock the door one time,” he said. “Something like this happened three or four years ago, a youngster got killed just in front my grandmother house further down the road.” He continued: “I didn’t know Jamaikey [well]. I sort of know him, just in passing. When I go for my grandchildren from school on evenings I would see him and pass and speak to him.” (SZB) Sheria Brathwaite You may also like Growing Tomorrow’s Harvest to start at three schools 26/03/2025 RSS opens new maritime security hub with US support 26/03/2025 Prime Minister Mottley travels to Jamaica 26/03/2025
