Jackie White, the consort of Sir Garry – the only male living national hero – passed away on Tuesday at home in Highgate Gardens, St Michael following a long illness. She was 73. A former West Indies captain, Sir Garry scored 8 032 Tests and took 235 wickets from 93 Tests, chalking up a then world record 365 not out which was eventually broken by Brian Lara.
