Traffic management for the Oistins We Gatherin’ jump

The National Cultural Foundation in collaboration with “We Gathering” Christ Church, is holding a Night Time Concert and Street Party, along Oistins Main Road, Christ Church, on Saturday, October 18.  As a result, a number of traffic changes will take effect from 5:40 pm until the close of the event.

Road closures

Take note of the following road closures between the times of 5:40 pm and 10:30 pm:

a) Oistins Main Road from its junction with Oistins Hill, to the junction of Keizer Hill and Thornbury Hill.

Exemptions

a) Transport Board Buses and Public Service Vehicles, will be allowed to Continue along Oistins Road to their respective destinations.

b) Persons doing business in the fish market will be allowed to do so. However, on exiting the market they must turn right onto Oistins Road.

Traffic diversions

Take note of the following traffic diversions and restrictions between the indicated times.

a) Motorists traveling east along Oistins from Maxwell Road, must turn left at the junction with Oistins Hill, make a right onto Church Hill and continue onto Thornbury Road.

b) Motorists travelling west along Keizer Hill towards Oistins, must turn right at the junction of Thornbury Hill and Oistins Road, before making a left onto Church Hill and continuing onto Canevale Road.

Parking restrictions

No person shall park their vehicle or be allowed to remain stationary on any of the following roads, except for the purpose of picking up or setting down passengers:

a) Oistins Road
b) Oistins Hill
c) Church Hill Road
d) Thornbury Road

Offences

Any person who contravenes these rules or fails to comply with any order given by a member of The Barbados Police Service in uniform, is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction, to a fine of five hundred dollars ($500BDS) or to imprisonment for a term of three (3) months.

These rules do not apply to vehicles used by The Barbados Police Service, the Barbados Defence Force, the Barbados Fire Service, or any emergency vehicle.

Police officers will also be deployed on the day, to assist with all traffic management.
