A 27-year-old mechanic has been remanded pending sentencing in connection with several drug offences.
Marcus Bradley Russell Babb of Brighton Black Rock, St Michael is now scheduled to reappear before Magistrate Douglas Frederick on October 14.
In the meantime a pre-sentencing report has been ordered on him.
Babb pleaded guilty before the District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court sitting at St Joseph to charges of importation of cannabis, possession with intent by him or some other person for supplying, trafficking and possession of the drug on September 14.
Sergeant Victoria Taitt in outlining the facts said lawmen acting on information went on duty to the Grantley Adams International Airport where they spoke with customs officials. Babb, who was at the location to collect the packages, was pointed out to them along with a box and a vacuumed sealed package containing vegetable matter suspected to be cannabis.
When asked to account for it, he allegedly told police “I just helping out my godmother.”
The prosecutor told Magistrate Frederick the cannabis was found concealed in pieces of clothing in plastic bags weighing 2.15 kilogrammes. It had an estimated street value of $17 200.
