The victim has been identified as Jadan Joel Murray, 23, of Halls Village # 1 in St James. Police were called to the area just after 9 p.m. by concerned residents who reported hearing several gunshots. On further investigation, police learned that a number of masked men had opened fire on two men who were walking toward the bar. The second man was hospitalised with injuries. Meanwhile, two of the masked men sustained injuries while fleeing the scene. Police say they opened fire on another man, an off-duty police officer who was armed, and during the exchange, they were injured. Murray’s death brings to 29 the number of homicides recorded in Barbados for 2024.
