The National Cultural Foundation (NCF) is deeply saddened and feel a great sense of loss over the passing of our former colleague and friend Sarah Simone Codrington.

Simone joined the NCF family in 2013, having taken up the post of Corporate Communications Specialist in the Marketing and Communications Department. Always with a ready smile, Simone carried out her duties with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency. She was an asset to the Foundation and made an invaluable contribution during her tenure. Her personality helped in making relations between us, the media, and other stakeholders cordial and productive.

Staff, both past and present, all share fond memories of her while commenting on how she impacted on their lives while on and off duty.

Chief Executive Officer Carol Roberts-Reifer remembers Simone as a fun-loving worker who was committed to the task. “Simone was warm and charming. She was fun to work with. She liked a good laugh, she also liked a good party. She was dedicated to her job and thoroughly enjoyed what she did. To say that we are shocked and saddened at the NCF would be an understatement.”

On leaving the NCF, Simone went on to serve as Communications and Information Officer at the Barbados Workers’ Union in March 2020. Our team continued working closely with her as we assisted in producing the Union’s Labour Day concert earlier this year on May 2.

Prior to joining the NCF, she spent 12 years at Cable & Wireless as Corporate Communications Officer and Corporate Communications Assistant.

She was also a member of the International Association of Business Communicators, The Public Relations Society of America and the College Chapter of the American Marketing Association.

Simone was a guest lecturer at the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP) as part of the Public Relations course offered there.

We, at the NCF, will miss Simone’s radiant smile, her positive energy, and her presence. On behalf of our Chairman, Board of Directors, our CEO, Management and staff, we extend sincere condolences to her mum, dad, relatives, loved ones and the cultural and communications fraternities. May Simone rest in eternal peace. (NCF)
