The platform aims to showcase published works by regional authors whilst providing guidance on book publishing and marketing. Beyond spotlighting authors, the website seeks to forge connections between writers and local service providers. The directory is compiling a comprehensive list of publishers, printers, editors, illustrators, and other professionals from the region. Teri Bethel, the website’s administrator, emphasises the importance of author visibility, explaining that even if the writers are not listed on international platforms like Amazon or Barnes & Noble, search engines need to be able to find them in brick-and-mortar shops or for direct deliveries. “There is strength in unity,” Bethel noted. “We can unite as a writing community while helping to build a literacy industry that can be supported throughout the region.” The platform also serves as a launchpad for budding storytellers, offering writing tips for educators and students. It features works by young regional writers, providing a space for them to hone their craft and share their creations. The site’s developers believe that fostering a supportive writing environment can aid character development in young people. The platform focuses on promoting family-friendly fiction and non-fiction that aligns with its core values of strengthening families and supporting nation building.
