Rakeem Shaquille Alleyne, of #7 Shepton Lane, The Pine, St Michael, appeared in Magistrate Bernadette John in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court No. 2 on Thursday, charged with the January 9, 2025 murder of Vere Hoyte and other offences allegedly committed on January 6 and 9 and March 31 in South District, St George; The Pine and Nelson Street, St Michael; and Checker Hall, St Lucy. In addition to murder, Alleyne is accused of six counts of endangering life, four counts of serious bodily harm, two counts of use of a firearm, possession of 36 rounds of ammunition, and one count of criminal damage. He was not required to plead to the charges and has been remanded to Dodds Prison until May 8, 2025. The matters related to the District ‘B’ jurisdiction have been transferred for April 17, while those falling under Holetown jurisdiction have been transferred for April 15.
